Volunteer With Us
At Sheffield Food Chain, our volunteers are an essential part of helping us achieve our mission. They play a crucial role in every aspect of the operation and as we continue to expand our reach and impact, we warmly welcome new volunteers to join our team.

Volunteering for Sheffield Food Chain offers the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, learn new skills and give something back to the community through tackling food poverty and food waste. After each shift, volunteers gather for a social meal, giving the chance for everyone to get to know each other over a hot delicious meal.

Batch-cooking sessions and cycle deliveries currently take place every Tuesday evening 5:00pm-8:30pm at Cemetery Road Baptist Church in Sharrow.

The Roles

  • Preparing & cooking the food: Chopping and peeling
  • Portioning: Dividing out the food into meal sized containers for distribution
  • Labelling: Ensuring all our meals are clearly labelled for convenience and safety
  • Cleaning: Tidying and cleaning the kitchen space

Head Cooks

We are looking for individuals with cooking experience in a kitchen environment and are confident with creating varied meals from scratch. As well as helping with the tasks outlined from our volunteer cooks.
